5 Healthy Breakfast Smoothies

These blended-fruit concoctions are wonderful things. Breakfast smoothies are not only delicious they provide a quick and easy way of getting a healthy nutrient hit at the beginning of your day.

Today I am sharing the recipes for 5 of my all time favourite smoothies:

Mango Smoothie

Use almond milk in place of cow’s milk for a dairy-free breakfast in just five minutes.

Preparation Time: 5 min

Serves: 1

Ingredients:mango breakfast smoothies

  • cup chopped ripe mango
  • ½ cup low-fat milk
  • ½ cup ice
  • ¼ cup plain low-fat yogurt
  • tablespoon honey
  1. Place the mango, milk, ice, yogurt, and honey in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and frothy.

Triple Berry Smoothie With Yogurt

Loaded with three types of berries and a ripe banana for natural sweetness, this smoothie is perfect for breakfast-on-the-go!

Preparation Time: 5 min

Serves: 2

Ingredients:Triple Berry Smoothie With Yogurt

  • 8 ounces frozen mixed berries
  • 2 small bananas, cut into 2-inch pieces and frozen
  • 6 ounces vanilla yogurt, preferably whole milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 -2 tablespoon honey
  1. Add the berries, bananas, yogurt, milk and honey to a blender and puree until smooth.
  2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Blueberry and Green Tea  Smoothie

Antioxidant-rich green tea makes this healthy smoothie a nutritional powerhouse.

Preparation Time: 5 min

Serves: 1

Ingredients:green tea blueberry banana

  • 3 tablespoon water
  • 1 green tea bag
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1½ cup frozen blueberries
  • ½ med banana
  • ¾ cup calcium fortified light vanilla soy milk
  1. Microwave water on high until steaming hot in a small bowl. Add tea bag and allow to brew 3 minutes. Remove tea bag. Stir honey into tea until it dissolves.
  2. Combine berries, banana, and milk in a blender with ice crushing ability.
  3. Add tea to blender. Blend ingredients on ice crush or highest setting until smooth. (Some blenders may require additional water to process the mixture.) Pour smoothie into tall glass and serve.

Green Breakfast Smoothie

Super-healthy ingredients for a breakfast energy boost – chill the milk and water for even better results

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Serves: 2

Ingredients:green breakfast smoothie

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 handful spinach (about 50g/2oz), roughly chopped
  • 1 cup broccoli florets, roughly chopped
  • 2 celery sticks
  • 4 tbsp desiccated coconut
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup rice milk
  • ¼ tsp spirulina or 1 scoop of greens powder or vegan protein powder (optional)


  1. Blend all of the ingredients until smooth
  2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Get the day started right with a peanut butter, banana, and flax smoothie. Not only will it taste like a treat but you’ll get a good dose of potassium, protein, and fiber to boot. If the smoothies seem too thick, just add another tablespoon or two of milk

Preparation Time: 20 mins

Serves: 2

Ingredients:peanut butter smoothie

  • 1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup vanilla fat-free yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ground golden flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced


  1. Blend all of the ingredients until smooth
  2. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
